i just read the papers, and there was this article that caught my attention. it's abt how the british schools will not be grouping their students according to age anymore, but will group them according to their abilities. this is done so, because they feel that this will allow the brighter students to soar, and weaker students to be able to keep up. the only flaw in this plan is that this is plain discrimination. students who have to repeat the course many many times might actually be ashamed of themselves. why destroy their pride? why destroy their confidence? why destroy them just to get results? groupin them according to ability would mean tt some will get retained. and the retainees? what do they do? study hard? smile cox they'r given a second chance? what abt them feeling useless, worthless and lonely? isn't this harsh and cruel? they might not want to study anymore, cox..they might see themselves as not being good enuf. the ideal aim of getting better results (smarter students get smarter, weaker students catching up) is often marred by factual happenings. no one lks to be left behind. no one lks to be pointed out as weaker. no one lks to be alone. how can they destroy ppl just to improve the institution or the country? ridiculous. oh..did i mention that this is the singapore's education system? yeah. no one better read this and send to some minister or wadever n get me jailed.
