does replacement mean that someone else fufills the "functions" you once did? that person took over your jobs and duties. is that how ppl are replaced and displaced? the transfer of obligations and rights.

or does replacement mean that the particular someone took up the space once occupied by you? be it in the mind or in the heart. that your spot is claimed by another? is that what ppl mean by being replaced?

or does it indicate that the memories are all gone? or rather, the memories of a particular place that once belonged to you you now has someone else as the main character and you as some random person?

well, the degree of how easy it is to be replaced obviously depends on the definitions attached.
